I fully believe that it is possible for any "type" of fragrance to appeal to me, but I do tend to steer away from perfumes that smell like baking spices, honey, sugar, vanilla, etc. I feel like I'm stuck in a Yankee Candle store, and being a midwesterner, the nightmare is all too real.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I would fully be up to giving this a try.
That lipstick looks great on you Katie! Would you please share what it is?
ReplyDeleteThanks to a kind member over at MUA I own a decant of Organza Indecence. Even if it theoretically ticks all the right boxes for me, it's one of those perfumes that I tend to forget. When I crave gourmand-ish ambers I usually pick Ambre Narguille over this one.
Julia, it's one of my high-rotation faves: L'Oreal Colour Rich gloss in Cherry on Top.
ReplyDeleteKatie, you are a brilliant writer! I love your humor! Your descriptions are so evocative it's quite unbelievable. As I was listening to your characterizations of Organza Indecence, I started thinking that the "sound" of it "smelled" like one of my all time newest faves, Poison Hypnotique and I was sayin' to myself, "Geeze, if I could only ask Katie what she thinks of this winner in contrast to it, because what she describes seems to be what comes to my mind from Poison." Ehem ehem ehem and voila! Youuuuuur gooood! Genie answered my wish. Thank you for being you. Love it!
ReplyDeletePrincess DvB: thank you so much for your frothing in my direction. You really put a tiger in my tank.
ReplyDeleteDear Princess:
ReplyDeleteI second that emotion.
Hi Katie,
ReplyDeleteOnce again, my curiosity is piqued and I ask myself, would l I like Indecence? Would I be able to get past the Creamsicle? Hmmm. Worth a try-on squirt me thinks. I appreciate you providing the where and how much, purchase information and I look forward to the next Fume Review. t.
I bought a small bottle on eBay simply because it sounded so yummy, but mysterious. Love it! It smells to me like a vanilly version of Idole De Lubin. This little bottle won't last me long, so I really hope that they updated version in the new bottle smells the same. Mmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteSteffee - it's nerve-wracking making the transition from old bottles to new. Will the magic still be there?, we wonder.
ReplyDeleteKatie - I just ordered the new bottle of Indecence from Macys.com - will let you know if it stands up to the "old". I've really fallen in love with it. BTW, have you tried those UO Arno Sorel fragrances yet?
ReplyDeleteAwaiting your report, Steffee. And I'm still travel and haven't yet been able to prowl Urban Outfitters for those new perfumes that sound so great!
ReplyDeleteThe verdict is in - the new bottle smells as good as the original. Yay!
ReplyDeleteNo, the new version is so 're-vamped' - the staying power is GONE. It doesn't smell like the original at all!! Although there is a kind of 'vanilla' smell, there is NO vanilla in the notes... I am so upset that I can only find the original on eBay for upwards of 300.00 for the 3.3 - I LOVE this parfum!
ReplyDeleteThe new version they added Plum ! Yuck !
ReplyDeleteThe vanilla smell is Amber .... I miss this parfum so much !!
ReplyDeleteDawn, I'm so curious to smell the original, now. It's been said before, but with all the tinkering with the formulas, perfume is becoming like vintages of wine, except that newer perfume vintages are increasingly guaranteed to be substandard to earlier ones.
ReplyDeleteBut why did they stop making it?? I'm such an addict; I, too, have been paying through the nose for it on ebay. It's totally intoxicating.
ReplyDeleteWho knows? The usual reasons, I suppose, waning demand, cost of materials, corporate policies, perfume grinches...
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to decide which perfume to try next: Organza Indecence by Givenchy or Chamade by Guerlain. After reading/watching your review, I am slightly tempted by the Givenchy... :)
ReplyDeleteThey are different ladies altogether. It's down to your mood and what you need next to enhance your life.
DeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteI normally wear Crabtree and Evelyns Savannah Gardens.... but it has been discontinue for sometime. I am trying to find something similar to Savannah Gardens and was told Givenchy Organza Indécence was very close... if you have smelt both fragrances could you tell me your opinion if they are similar or not. Or if you can think of another perfume that is close to Savannah Gardens?
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI never smelled SG, so I'm unable to advise on this one.
