Now I love it too, and I haven't even smelled it. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been really fuzzed up about L'Agent. Agent Provocateur weren't pandering when they released this. Well, maybe pandering to me....
ReplyDeleteWhen she was bad, she was torrid . . .
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to hear that you like this so much. I didn't think that any fragrance but your "Portrait of a Lady" could move you to such enthusiasm.
Can this be safely worn in 96F heat with humidity that makes it feel like the temperature has climbed to 109F? Do I care? Probably not. I...need...to...try...this.
ReplyDeleteCount me in for another slave. ANY SCENT that can rival Coco Mademoiselle has to be sampled. I was visibly upset when my girlfriend didn't cotton to Coco Mademoiselle as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteLeather + ylang ylang = Full attention from Stefush.
If it "shares a kinship with Laura Mercier Minuit Enchante" I'm there, but I can't wear Coco Mademoiselle!!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Poison Hypnotique when I caught a waft of it walking behind our guide when we boarded a speed boat embarking to Venizia. At least I thought that was PH...wasn't PU....anyway I begged her to tell me what she was wearing; didn't have to beg she was delighted to tell me in somewhat pigeony English, but better than the pigeons for sure..and was fanatic about letting me know it was the CD RED bottle. Short story long...I am mad about the fume....one of my siggies right now..and I do also love CoCo Madmoiselle...so whatayathink goils....prolly time for me to hightail it undiecover to the undie store and geeeeve a shhhpriiiitz! Thanks, Puckrick...Princess Diane Von B
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to re-test this - I split a bottle with Bonks and another fumehead, and when I got it, I was kinda disappointed..I love original AP and for some reason love Eau Emotionnelle, but this one left me wanting more...let me try again tonight and see if I get my codpiece ripped off. I sure do hope so!
ReplyDeletem61, Stefush, b77 and Princess DVB: I predict success in your future relationships with L'Agent. It really is delightfully different, a thick slab of voluptuous smells handled deftly. (Although probably not deftly enough for 100-degree weather, m61!)
ReplyDeletebasia, L'Agent is a lot closer to Minuit Enchante than Coco Mlle.
Nathan, I'm always open to new flings...with perfume, that is! Funnily enough, I'm wearing my Lady right now.
ReplyDeleteBloody Frida, L'Agent is a left turn from AP and Eau Emotionelle for sure. In Bonkers About Perfume's L'Agent review:
ReplyDeletehttp://bonkersaboutperfume.blogspot.com/search?q=l%27agent
she finds it louche, but much more on the feminine and girlish side than I did. I maintain that L'Agent possesses enough leather and spice to cut it for Les Dudes.
Ooh, this sounds fabbo! I just recently acquired two new leathers so I hardly need to go hunting for more naughtiness, but I might have to swing by the local AP boutique....
ReplyDeleteElisa, L'Agent's worth a swing by. Lucky that you have an AP boutique nearby. They should have take-home samples.
ReplyDeleteKatie!Oh Katie...I don't know how you do it..use words to describe smells but you are just spot on. L'Agent is both torrid and sexy. Its a pair of crotchless leather panties paired with a sexy pink satin corset worn over the perfect little black dress. I bought L'Agent and Agent Provocateur a while back when I saw your review on(Valentines Fragrances). I wanted both and I was purchasing them blindly based solely on your review...quite a risky move on my part since I purchased directly from their UK website. I love them both but L'Agent especially. It just has that special James Bondish "come hitherness" to it. This is definitely not your average momma's fruity floral.
ReplyDeleteOh and by the way. I also purchased the biggest bottle that I could buy of Chole Love Chole. You were soo right about that one too!! I get the violet,..rice thing. I NEVER in my life would ever think you could use the word rice to describe a perfume but by George is does smell like rice!! Love your site and would love to hear what you think of the new Shalimar Initial.I know you love the original.
Wow, Lizzie! Thanks so much for your encouraging feedback. It's a huge relief that I'm not wasting peoples' money with my enthusiastic blatherings.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Shalimar Initial. Just sniffed it in passing at the Guerlain counter. It confused me, because there is no resemblance to Shalimar. But other than that, I haven't formed an opinion, other than it seems to be a teen-friendly fruity floral. I confess to being hugely distracted at the time by Guerlain's 2011 Muguet, which is unutterably sublime. There. I've just uttered it.
"It's a mesmerizing shimmy between liqueur and dustiness. It's torrid."
ReplyDeleteLOL!! It was very interesting to get your detailed take on this one. I have to say I still only get geranium and ylang and a bit of powdery rose and woods - if I got the leather and spice it might not cut it as my new "go-to va-va-voom scent", to borrow your phrase!
And if Bloody Frida doesn't end up bonding with her part of the split, I'd happily buy it back, as I sense I am going to get through a fair bit of this... : - )
ReplyDeleteBasically what Ines said.
ReplyDeleteYou could honestly make a killing writing PR for Agent Provocateur. Talk about selling it! If it's anywhere near as rich and sexy as you've made it out to be, I'll be happy.
Spike, L'Agent really got me on a tear with my perfume reporting, I guess! What can I say, it put a tiger in my tank. I'll be interested to hear what you and everyone else think about this one.
ReplyDeleteVanessa, wot, no leather? I'm sure it smells divine on you, whether powder, leather, or unicorn underbelly fluff.
Katie, your attitude towards "sexy," is so endearing. It's joyful and fun and humorous and lively. Always a spot of sunshine for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely observation, Nora, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI had a blind sniffing date today with a man from the men's forum on Basenotes who happens to live in my town! I specifically wore L'Agent in order to get a second opinion on the leather angle and he definitely reported a soft suede vibe! Not spice particularly, though there was a bright, sharp note in there also that I couldn't place. I think I may have been using "geranium" as a catch-all phrase. : - ) Anyway, this stuff's been on for 13 hours and is still going great guns.
ReplyDelete"I may have been using "geranium" as a catch-all phrase'...haha! I went through a phase where everything that smelled unidentifyingly resinous and musty and weird was automatically "myrrh".
ReplyDeleteReceived this one in the mail today, per your recommendation. We are getting to know each other. So far, I smell a very suede and fruit fragrance, it isn't as rosy as I expected. But that could be my crazy nose. Nevertheless, enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, suede and fruit sounds right. Your nose isn't crazy.
