A Story of Scent - Upcoming Indie Perfume Documentary

A Story of Scent is filmmaker and artist Saskia Wilson-Brown's in-progress documentary about the world of independent perfume, and the people who make it and love it. The teaser clip features interviews with Smell Bent's Brent Leonesio, Scent Bar's Steven Gontarski, and Katie Puckrik Smells'...er...me! Wilson-Brown is in the process of gathering more voices from around the fumisphere, and the finished doc will feature as many independent perfumers as she can cram in. 1. I'll don't know where it will end up, but I'll keep tabs on it and let everyone know if it turns up on TV or elsewhere.

  5. Beautifully lit and photographed. I kept oohing and aahing over the colours, the smooth skin tones and the bright saturation of it all.

  9. Ahh love it! I already want more...a documentary about a niche group that I'm a part of doesn't come around very often.

  11. Now this is my kinda documentary- seems so many documentaries I have viewed lately ( last night)- bring tears - This one looks beautifully done, and tear free! Katie, please do keep us posted on when it is complete and where it ends up being showed...If I were one of those people with a monster "home theater" I could envision having a great party, watching this doc, passing out samples and playing sniffing games...instead of popcorn, we'd have testers....perhaps even filling the room with scent evry 20 min - oh the possibilities would be endless...Katie- you do look and SOUND brilliant, as always- cant wait!!!hooray!

    1. Hopefully the only tears at your screening party will be when someone accidentally sprays perfume in their eye.

  12. Hey, this is great that it's happening! I met Saskia on the Sniffa trip to Barcelona, and she's got a great style and feel for our little perfume world. So great to see the clip from it!

  15. I look forward to seeing the entire film. Thanks for the clip. I have worn perfume off and on for a number of years, but recently I have become an enthusiast. Now It seems that I can't find enough info about indie and niche perfumers. I know the they're out there, but there simply aren't enough hours in the day to search. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough...

  16. There are two sites that deal in (mostly) indie perfume: IndieScents and LuckyScent.
