Dans Tes Bras, Frédéric Malle’s 2008 release by Maurice Roucel, is the olfactory tale of a delicate violet’s adventures with some oddball characters - metallic mushrooms, Jordan almonds, laundry detergent. There’s plenty of conflict and fish-out-of-water surprise along the way, but by the end, everybody ends up getting along.
I find Dans Tes Bras striking and handsome, but also weird and artificial. It’s the perfume version of Tilda Swinton.
Frederic Malle Dans Tes Bras is available at Barneys.com, starting at $220 for 100ml.
Wondrous review as always, I totally agree on the iron thing. Sluuurp.
ReplyDeleteHave you smelled Kenzo Winter Flower? I feel like it's the half-sibling of DTB: less salt, less fairground violets and lots of powdery vanilla instead...
Thank you, nadine! Oh, I love Winter Flower, but never made the Dans tes Bras connection. That gives me a new way to think about both these perfumes. Good one!
ReplyDeleteThis is my new "darling", tried a sample a few months ago which was a gift from a dear perfume buddy, and just couldn't forget how fantastic it made me smell. Two days ago I finally ordered a FB from Frederic Malle's website, can't wait to receive it!!! I guess this is the perfect "your skin but better" scent, and something I could wear anytime:)
ReplyDeleteSabrina, it takes a singular person to love Dans tes Bras, and to "get" it at first sniff. I hope you two will be very happy together!
ReplyDeleteI smell, great, my Dans Tes Bras just arrived! My other perfumes are very jealous, of course:)
ReplyDeleteSabrina, how wonderful that you're made such a satisfying perfume match!
